FirstNight Bag
When children and youth enter foster care, it is often sudden and overwhelming. Many arrive with little or no personal belongings, adding to the trauma of an already difficult transition. The First Night Bags Program ensures that every child has what they need to feel safe, cared for, and respected from the very beginning.
Each new duffle bag is filled with two weeks’ worth of clothing, new underwear and socks, a cozy blanket, a stuffed animal, a book, and a toy. These essentials not only provide comfort but also restore a sense of dignity and normalcy during a time of uncertainty. By meeting both practical and emotional needs, First Night Bags help children feel seen, valued, and supported as they adjust to their new environment.
