Welcome Back! Can you believe autumn is already here? Between the back-to-school season, cooler evenings, and the first hint of fall leaves, it feels as if summer flew by in the blink of an eye. A lot has happened since our last update in April, and UpsideDown Moments is excited to share what we have been up to and what's to come for our community.

Team Members of the Month:

We are proud to highlight two of our outstanding team members this month: Margaret Meiers (Event Planner) and Juliana Meiers (Event Coordinator). In preparation for the Foster the Future Soirée, they have been instrumental in moving things forward, taking the lead on outreach to donors, coordinating details, and sharing the event throughout the community. Their initiative, focus, and commitment have set the stage for an exciting and meaningful evening. We deeply appreciate the time and effort they have invested to ensure the Soirée's success. Thank you once again, Margaret and Juliana, for your dedication and the positive impact you bring to the team!

Volunteers of the Month:

This month, we are excited to celebrate three wonderful volunteers: Christy Jean & son Holden, and Anderson Kristof. Each of them has stepped in where needed, whether it was packing, sorting, or lending a hand behind the scenes. Their willingness to show up time and again, their hard work, and their above-and-beyond spirit have been such a gift to our team. We are grateful for the energy and dedication they have poured into making this month's effort a success!

In Case You Missed It: Highlights from Recent Events

UpsideDown Moments has assisted over 400 children in the first half of 2025! Back in April, we hosted our Seasonal Basics event, and the turnout was nothing short of inspiring. With the help of our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters, we ensured that kids could step into the season feeling prepared, confident, and cared for. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event a success!

As summer came to an end, we teamed up with Evergreen UMC in August for our Back-to-School Boutique. This free shop event provided school-aged children with clothing and supplies, giving them the confidence to start the new school year. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who donated clothing and school supplies, held their own donation drive, and volunteered. Thanks to your support, we were able to serve over 90 children!

The Countdown Begins: Don't Miss These Upcoming Events!

Saturday, October 4th: Seasonal Basics - Our Seasonal Basics event, in partnership with Floris UMC, is approaching! This FREE event provides essential clothing to children in foster care and at-risk youth in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties, helping them stay warm and comfortable as the weather changes. In 2024, we were able to provide clothing and other essentials to over 500 children. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the day runs smoothly. We need individuals who will locate bags and then hand them off to the runners, who will then deliver them to families. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a meaningful, community-driven event. Sign up today to volunteer and help bring warmth, comfort, and joy to these children this season!

Sunday, October 19th: Foster the Future Soirée - Get ready for an unforgettable evening at our Foster the Future Soirée, a night filled with purpose, community, and celebration! Join us for an elegant evening featuring delicious food and drinks, an exciting silent auction, and inspiring guest speakers who will share powerful stories of impact.
